Hello there fashionistas. Hope you guys are having a great week. I’m so tired from all the travelling I did last week. I love every minute of it, but it does get to you after a while. I can’t believe, I travelled to Virginia, Maryland, DC, Philadelphia and New York all in a week. Anyways, the first 2 cities I accompanied hubby dearest (who was on an official visit) and the other 3 were for research for Milgayi City Guide. One of the stores I visited in New York was of Alpana Bawa’s. Now if you love color, this is the place to be. Her store has such a striking window display that you can’t wait to get inside. Once you have stepped in, you feel like you have entered a Bollywood set scene. Alpana known for her flamboyant colors on outfits has now extended her name into home furnishings like pillows and quilts. Drawing inspiration from her roots in India, Alpana mixes different cultures in her creations like 60’s style mod shift dresses in vibrant colors such as hot pinks and oranges to intricately embroidered shirts. At first glance, her creations are reminiscent of Manish Arora’s in terms of the vibrancy of colors. She does agree but considers her work to be more minimalistic and yet kitschy. This cutesy colorful store also features a wide collection of fun accessories and lively pillows. What a fun way to dress yourself and your home!!
