Jewelry is something that we all love. It never goes out of style, can be passed down to future generations, can be worn with different attires be it Western or Indian. For me, jewelry has been a childhood obsession. I grew up watching my mother adorn her finery, collected costume jewelry in my teens and finally fell in love with old antique jewelry during my wedding. I remember when I received my first piece of jewelry, I was over the moon. It was on my sixteenth birthday, my mother gave me a pair of diamond earrings that my father had gifted her with his first earnings. Even today when I wear them, I think of that moment, how he must have given it to her, her excitement seeing them.
Jewelry is not like fashion - Every piece is handmade and different. Every piece has a memory attached with it for the creator as well as the person acquiring the creation. Indian Jewelry is by far the most beautiful and intricate form of jewelry, whether its a kundan, polki, jadwa or filgiree - each by itself is a work of art. Here are some of my favorite pieces.
